The older types of 3D glasses made images clearer. Basically, they would filter red lights in one eye and blue on the other. In viewing a 3D movie, red and blue colors from these images are then removed respectively for each eye. Your brain then creates an image that projects these special effects better. However, the drawback is that it takes away the brightness of the movie. There are some viewers that find this odd and would not use them throughout the movie.
